Thank You for Making the First Kingston Witches’ Walk a Success!

We are thrilled to announce that the first Kingston Witches’ Walk, held on October 13, 2023, was a magical success! Thanks to the incredible efforts of our participants and volunteers, we raised an amazing $539 for the Elizabeth Fry Society of Kingston. Your enthusiasm and generosity have truly made a difference.

The Kingston Witches’ Walk is a unique event where participants dress up as witches, dance, and celebrate the spirit of community while raising funds for a local charity. This non-religious event welcomes witches of all faiths and is inclusive of all genders. It’s a time to come together, have fun, and support a great cause.

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Kingston is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to improving the social, economic, and political status of women, particularly those who are or may be criminalized. They provide essential services such as community outreach, social justice programs, and affordable housing to empower women and promote equality.

Thank you once again to everyone who participated, volunteered, and donated. Your support helps create a brighter future for the women in our community. We can’t wait to see you all at next year’s event! 🌟

It’s better as a coven

It’s better participating in the walk as a coven. The supreme witches suggest you walk in small groups. We will call these small groups your coven. Your coven will choose the path to the final destination.

Each coven should have a head witch. This head witch will lead your coven on the magical journey. We ask head witches to:

  • gather your coven near the Rev’d Barclay monument in Skeleton Park.
  • listen to announcements from the supreme witches.
  • share announcements with their coven.
  • reminds the coven to stick to pedestrian paths and rules of the road – like using sidewalks, mindful of crosswalks (this is not a parade using the streets of Kingston).
  • have ample space between your coven and other covens. Try to avoid bottlenecking. It’s not a race, it’s a walk.
  • lead your coven on your chosen path to the final destination. This path could include stopping at a local haunt for photos, having a quick witches’ brew coffee stop, buying that last minute flying broom, or arriving early to watch all the other witches.

If you are a solo-practitioner – think about joining a coven. Arrive early to find other solo-practitioners to join in and start your own coven.

The Walk – our main event

Hello Witches, Wizards, and all others to our main event – the Kingston Witches’ Walk. This is your time to dress in your witch or wizard attire and join others in a walk in downtown Kingston. Plus, this is a time to donate to our chosen charity – The Elizabeth Fry Society of Kingston – a wickedly wonderful charity empowering women.

A few witchy notes:

  • Please bring cash money for donations. Our supreme witches will be accepting cash donations for the Elizabeth Fry Society of Kingston.
  • This is an all ages event. We do anticipate little witches, maiden witches, mother witches, and crone witches. Even wizards and sorcerers of all ages.
  • This is a non-religious event. Although witches of any and all faiths are welcome.
  • The event is predominantly for women; however, it is inclusive of all witches, warlocks, sorcerers, and sorceresses of all genders.

The gathering will begin after sundown in Skeleton Park – rain or moonlight (rain or shine). The walk will begin making its way down to Confederation Park. In Confederation Park, we’ll have a message from our chosen charity – the Elizabeth Fry Society of Kingston. Afterward, we welcome our sister witches – The Cauldron Sisters – to give a dance performance for our enjoyment.

The wickedly wonderful plan
